DDI Invited to Attend the 6th Cambridge University International Real Estate Finance & Investment Conference

On November 27, 2018, the 6th Cambridge University International Real Estate Finance& Investment Conference was successfully held at the banquet hall, F/42, Leadenhall Building (Cheesegrater), the City of London. SHE Yaoting, executive chairman of DDI and CEO of Real Estate Group, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech as moderator of symposium.

More than 200 representatives from China-UK political and academic circles, as well as real estate, banking and insurance industries attended the conference, including Mr. LIU Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom, Professor Phil Allmendinger, vice-president of Cambridge University and dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Colin Lizieri, dean of Department of Land Economy of Cambridge University, and Ms. BAO Ling, minister-counselor of Commercial Department of Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom. Among them, nearly 40 authoritative experts and industry leaders from China-UK real estate industry delivered keynote speeches and symposium.

The first symposium, chaired by Dr. SHE Yaoting, focused on “How Can London as an International Financial Center Lead the China-UK Cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative”. He pointed out in his opening speech that London, as the most prosperous international city in the world and the “bridgehead” city at the western end of the Belt and Road, played a crucial role in today’s China-UK cooperation. For enterprises and investors, London can not only provide professional industry elites and sound legal systems, but also an open and inclusive environment and a good ecosystem.

At the conference, Mr. LIU Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom, said, “The developing countries along ‘the Belt and Road’ are in the stage of rapid development of infrastructure construction, which brings new opportunities for international cooperation in real estate investment.” He said, “To grasp and make good use of the opportunities of ‘the Belt and Road’, we need pay attention to four aspects: first, follow the trend of open cooperation of the times; second, explore the complementary advantages of win-win cooperation; third, establish the brand awareness with a centenary plan; fourth, take a global perspective on innovation.”

DDI Group has been established for nearly 30 years. Since 2004, DDI has made response to the government’s call of go-out strategy and started to invest in overseas real estate. In the United States, DDI has regarded Southern California as the core of investment and expanded to major American cities where the real estate market is showing a high growth trend. It has invested in and made acquisition of many projects such as high-quality commercial real estate.In Nova Scotia, Canada, DDI has acquired nine projects and a real estate management company. At present, DDI owns 6,500 acres of land in Halifax, Canada, and will further promote the development of bay area in Canada in the future under “the Belt and Road” Initiative.
