MARVEL TECH Successfully Launched the First Space Gene Bank in the World

In early 2018, MARVEL TECH (Shanghai Marvel Technology Co., Ltd.) was jointly founded by Feng Lun, a Chinese well-known entrepreneur and chairman of Yufeng Group, Li Hailin, chairman of DDI, Xu Yuefei, chairman of Shanghai Rongkryn Science and Technology, and top aerospace scientists and genetic scientists at home and abroad. This is a company specializing in science research of life and technology exploration in space, with the mission of "creating a new civilization for humankind". By establishing, managing and operating a space gene bank of millions of people on a long-term basis, it will transport genes to Mars or Earth-like planets when technology and other related conditions become mature in the future, aiming at using genetic technology to create a new civilization for humankind.
The world's first human space gene bank project is led by MARVEL TECH, its code name is DSPACE which is interpreted as DNA in space in English. By launching human genes into space and conducting ground-based space environment simulation experiments, the project compared genome-wide 100X deep sequencing data of Genetic Lyophilized Powder-GLP (lyophilized powder of human genes) which contains genetic information before and after the experiments, so as to obtain the data concerning the influence exerted by the space environment on the storage of GLP. At the same time, a gene storage device for resisting cosmic irradiation and high-energy ions is being developed, thus not only preserving human seeds (genes) permanently in the earth and space, but also providing a strong support for future interstellar migration and gene regeneration as well.
On September 28, 2018, Mr. Feng Lun, the founder of DSPACE, announced the contents of the project for the first time to more than 100 guests from all over the world and the media at home and abroad at the Shanghai summit of Abundance360, the world renowned technology summit.
In August 2018, a team of DSPACE project nurses collected 20ml of venous blood from eight volunteers which was contained in EDTA anticoagulant vacuum collection tubes and then transported and carried by hand to the China National Gene Bank by a specially assigned person from a biological cold chain company. Scientists from the National Gene Bank then used magnetic beads to extract their genes (DNA=desoxyribonucleic acid) before making them into GLPs which can be preserved for a long time with the vacuum lyophilization method. The GLP of the eight volunteers were placed in DSB-01, a space gene bank with the maximum resistance against cosmic irradiation and high-energy ions, ground-to-ground communications and autonomous temperature control. The eight volunteers who participated in the trial were strictly screened, so there is no doubt that they are excellent people from different regions, industries and age groups in China. Based on the altitude of the orbit of the space gene bank DSB-01, the GLPs of the eight participants will be preserved as long as 975 years in space. Their genes are the first ones to be stored in space, which is regarded as a milestone in the history of human life science research and space exploration.
